Juvenile literature is written specially for teenagers, which has a great impact onthe cultivation of teenagers’ knowledge, culture, imagination and literatureconsciousness. It also can assist teenagers in forming the right outlook of the world,the life and the values. And translation for juvenile literature is an indispensible part inpromoting the culture communication and enriching teenagers’ spiritual world.Therefore, the quality of the translation for juvenile literature greatly influences thehealthy development of the teenagers and the status of culture communication.Germany’s Functionalist Translation Theory, especially Nord’s Skopos Theory,comes as liberation to the translation study field, which considers translation as apurposeful communicative activity. The target audience of the translated juvenileliterature—teenagers, are special ones. So meeting teenagers’ need is a key point of thetranslation.This translation practice report is about the three animal stories written by Roberts,the famous writer for animal novels, aiming at discussing the translation flow of thetranslation project and analyzing the stylistic features and language characteristics ofthe juvenile literature, especially animal novels. Therefore, this report firstly offers ageneral description of the translation task, including the backgrounds, clients’requirements, and the characteristics of this task. Then, it describes the translation flow,including pre-translation work, translation process and after-translation work. Then thetranslation theory and tactics and questions and solutions are described. In the finalchapter, the experience and advice are summarized.
