The Research Of Interrogative Sentence In The Dialect Of Xiangyin In Hunan Province

The paper takes the interrogative sentence in the dialect of Xiangyin in Hunan province as research object. The paper is based on the principle of “introspection and outer demonstration”. It has got abundant first-hand dialect materials through the fieldwork. We use the combination of form and meaning, the combination of diachronic analysis and synchronic analysis, comparative analysis between languages, and other theory and method of language research. We have descripted the interrogation system of Xiang Yin dialect roundly and deeply.The paper is divided into seven chapters.The first chapter is the introduction part. It introduces the general situation of Xiangyin County. Then it introduces the topic significance, the research status, research contents and methods,the source of corpus, the style explanation of the paper. Finally, it attaches the phonetic system of the survey site.The second chapter studies the yes-no interrogation of Xiang Yin dialect. The neutral yes-no interrogation of Xiang Yin dialect use the form of “S+吗/吧1”. It is developed from contradictory interrogation. But from the form, “S+吗/吧1”hasn’t developed into typical neutral yes-no interrogation. It has transitional nature. The guided yes-no interrogation are divided into “S+啊1/哎”and“S+吧2/唦”. The former expresses verification, the latter estimation. There exist disaccord between form and meaning in Xiang Yin dialect.The third chapter studies the alternative interrogation of Xiang Yin dialect.The alternative interrogation of Xiang Yin dialect uses the modal particle“啊2”to connect options in order to soothing tone.We can add conjunction“还是”after the"啊2".In most cases,we put“还是”omitted as“是”,and because of the economic principle of language,we usually use"啊2是".The fourth chapter studies the contradictory interrogation of Xiang Yin dialect. The contradictory interrogation of Xiang Yin dialect mainly adopts “VP–Neg” abbreviation. The concrete form is “S+不/嚜+啰?”. “嚜” is the sandhi form of the negation word “冇”.The fifth chapter studies the specific interrogation of Xiangyin dialect. The specific interrogation of Xiangyin dialect is similar to those of mandarin. They are all divided into specific interrogation with interrogative pronouns and specific interrogation without interrogative pronouns. The specific interrogation with interrogative pronouns has an interrogative pronoun system of their own. The specific interrogation without interrogative pronouns is divided into “NP+哩?”and “VP+哩?”.The sixth chapter researches the echo interrogation of Xiang Yin dialect. It is subdivided internally into the yes-no echo interrogation and the specific echo interrogation. The echo interrogation of Xiang Yin dialect are not all in order to determine what the other one said. It also can form stressed and surprise semanteme. This usage is widespread in daily communication.The seventh chapter researches the answer system of Xiang Yin dialect. The answer of the yes-no interrogation of Xiang Yin dialect is based on the relationship with questions, rather than the positive and negative of the thing itself. We accordingly call Xiang Yin dialect as“question and answer relational language”.
