| Bilateral Sino-Tanzanian intercourse experienced a great leap ever since 1949 and expanded from political and economical sphere further to cultural and education fields. Both governments placed emphasis on educational cooperation and have been striving for a better approach to cultural and educational exchanges. In this context, the thesis, consisting of five chapters, explores the interaction between China and Tanzania in terms of education. In the first chapter, the author outlines historical interactions, significance of this study, research methods and references etc.. Chapter two introduces basic information of the Confucius Institute at the University of Dodoma and its current situations. The author, with a string of charts and graphs, clearly delineates the status quo of this institution, including Chinese course mapping, various courses provision, students information, teaching staff, teaching materials, management and cultural activities. Besides, the author offers necessary analysis and comments. Chapter three presents major obstacles and difficulties in the process of promoting Chinese language, mainly focusing on the problems of teaching activities, management and cultural activities. And through a series of case study based on reality, the author analyses subjective and objective reasons for those problems. A number of suggestions and pieces of advice are provided in chapter four for a better future of the Confucius Institute. Chapter five, the last one, generalizes the chief viewpoints and draws conclusions, in which the author indicates her realization of the weaknesses in this thesis. |
