Chinese textbooks for foreign students is an important medium to help learners master the Chinese language. The textbook which is designed scientifically is very helpful for learners to better understand and grasp what they learn. Meanwhile, the corpus difficulty of the textbook is an important manifestation of the scientificalness. Study of corpus difficulty of the textbook is not yet mature:on the one hand, the existing researches focus on the field of integrated intensive textbooks, the analysis of other kinds of textbooks is insufficient; on the other hand, although we have taken advantage of relevant western legibility studies, but fail to work well with the characteristics of Chinese textbooks themselves. In this paper, we focus on intermediate spoken Chinese textbook. Based on the characteristics of oral teaching, I try to study this problem from two different perspectives:comprehensive perspective and topic-based perspective, and ultimately the result showed that:"Level Chinese " is the most difficult. Because the concept which writers held is different, the number of sentence length in every hundred words from Level Chinese is the highest, which largely raised the language difficulty of the final result. Developing Chinese is doing well in the field of sentence length in every hundred words, but is weak in the unusual vocabulary.Generally, "Intermediate Spoken Chinese" rank in the middle of the analysis. At the same time, from topic-based perspective, we found that different textbooks varyin the average sentence length," Level Chinese " rank first. In the field of unusual vocabulary, "Developing Chinese" covers more than other two textbooks. And " Level Chinese "has a good control on the C and D grade vocabulary; from the Chinese grammar perspective, the topic related to daily life does not have too much advanced grammars. For middle-level grammars, the results from the statistics are almost similar. Finally,we find that types of the language materials probably have some impact on the language difficulty, and it is worth being explored more deeply. This paper includes six partsChapter 1:Introduction.Chapter 2:Literature Study. Existing studies about oral textbooks English legibility study and language difficulty studyChapter 3:Factors affecting language difficulty and Statistical Methods.Chapter 4:Quantitative Analysis of Language difficulty----Comprehensive StudyChapter 5:Quantitative Analysis of Language difficulty----Topic-based StudyChapter 6:Conclusion...
