Thirty Years In Turbulence -The Art Research In Hubei Province From The "85 Modern Art Movement"

The art in Hubei Province had a very important position in the Modern Art Movement in the last 80’s,China.Such kind of position can be summarized in a word from an article of Mr. Peng De,who is an art critic. When Mr. Peng reviewed the scene of that time,he said this in The Contemporary Art Trend in Hubei Province, "Someone said the avant-garde art in China transferred from Beijing to Wuhan.Then,Wuhan has become New York in China,and Beijing is Paris.(I believe)This statement isn’t a fabrication founded upon nothing". After the 85 Modern Art Movement flowed to Hubei Province,artists from not only Wuhan City,which is the capital of Hubei Province,but also some major prefectures like Huangshi,Yichang,etc. Joined in this turbulent trend of art.Hubei Province arose massive art events,exhibitions,and art groups.What is more important is the birth of the Tend of Thought of Art,Which is referred to the"Two magazines and One newspaper" in art.After the birth of this theoretical journal,the impart of it soon spread to everywhere around the nation and strongly pushed forward the 85 Modern Art Movement.The Art Revolution Movement of Hubei, arose in the middle of the last 80’s,had been lasting until the second round of the Reform and Opening-upPolicy in China in the early 1990’s.After the talks given by Deng Xiaoping during the inspection tour to the south,several art groups from Wuhan Province emerged with great influence in China,even in the world.In this period,significant changes took place in the art creations of Hubei artists.And such changes is the adoptive creation to social transformation of China.However,due to the impact of the national strategy blueprint policy,coupled with the influence of marketization and globalization,Hubei Province, which has been fully marketization,gradually lost its deserved status and discourse power on the Chinese politics and economy chessboard.Following with the lost of many key artists and critics in the 85 Modern Art Movement,the avant-garde art in Hubei is no more glorious on the whole.If we put the 85 Modern Art Movement to the timeline of 1985 as the beginning of researching the history of art revolution in Hubei Province,then in this special space background comb the different historical periods of the inner changes and basic appearances of the Hubei art thinking or genre from this point to the next thirty years; then,the research project of this article appears apparantly that:The politics,economy, culture,science,technology, and social life of a certain historical period are the whole basis or reason of the exitence of the art which reflecting human’s spiritual world.Through the historical review,this essay tries to analyze the Hubei Province art status quo,its achievements and why they come into beings during the period from the magnificent 85 Modern Art Movement to the new century.And make a theoretical discussion through this linear narration.The author of this paper tries to comb the theory of history which is behind the avant-garde art phenomenon of Hubei through the relevance of the context.And then,through the review and analysis of Hubei avant-garde art phenomenon during the recent twenty years,summarize its achievements,and find out its deficiency.The ultimate goal is giving some help and reference to the future artists in order to revitalize the turbulent trend of art in Hubei Province.
