The topic of a text is one of the things which most directly contact with the students. The select of a topic directly affects students’learning interest and learning motivation. In addition, the choice of topic decides the choice of words which is commonly used in the text, and affects the functional item, grammatical structure and culture item of the text as well. This thesis begins from the topic of a text which divided into two aspects, on the one hand it research of the topic choice and the topic arrangement internally, on the other hand it research the relationship between the topic and forms of literature and the relationships between the topic and function items externally.Advanced research has long been the weak link of Chinese as a foreign language study, the stage in advanced and intermediate distinction is not clear, as well Chinese language textbooks for advanced is less. So, the research trends put the advanced and intermediate together to study. But the students in advanced stage are different from the intermediate, for which it have unique characteristics. Therefore, in this thesis, we research the topic of the comprehensive Chinese textbook in advanced.This thesis selects four representative comprehensive Chinese textbooks in advanced which published since 2005 as the research objects. According to the theories of textbook compilation and the basic principles of teaching evaluation, we studied in the methods of questionnaire investigation and data statistics analysis.The thesis includes six chapters:Chapter one is the preface. This part is the whole observe to the topic of the comprehensive Chinese textbooks at present, which mainly states from the motivations and the significance of the topic, the previous research, research method and research basis etc. Try to show you the overall direction of the topic research.The second chapter is the research of the topic choice. These chapters classify the topic content of four comprehensive textbooks, which based on the statistical analysis. The topics are divided into eight categories and fifteen sub-culture groups. "Next it examined a high level of students through a questionnaire. At last depending on the student’s preferences in the topic, we put forward some suggestions of choosing a topic for the comprehensive Chinese textbook in advanced.The third chapter is the internal research of topic, to discuss the topic arrangement. The topic arrangement is divided into the general arrangement and the subjective arrangement. The gerieral arrangement mainly explains the quantity, the emphasis and the manners of a topic. The subjective arrangement is discussed about the relationship between the main text and reading text.The fourth chapter aims to explore the relationship between the topic and forms of literature. In the first, we classifies the forms of literature of the four comprehensive textbooks and studied the relationships between the topics and the forms of literature, which aimed at studying their merits and defects of the textbook in the choice of topic.The fifth chapter is the research about the relationships between the topic and function items. We classify the functional items according to the functional syllabus. Through the comparative analysis, we try to research the relationship between function items and topic.Chapter Six is the conclusion of this thesis.Based on the horizontal and vertical study of topics, we proposed some reasonable suggestions of topic choosing, topic arrangement, forms of literature in topic and the function items of the topic. All in all, we hope this thesis could inspire more good ideas on the comprehensive Chinese textbook compilation in advanced.
