The paper is a summary of interpreting practices in two-year graduate study. I have the honor to participate in 6 foreign exchange and interpreting activities featuring in foreign guests from different countries and with various background under the guidance of my tutor. This paper is a description and analysis of three typical tasks. As a liaison interpreter, I assisted and participated in all activities including welcoming and farewell ceremonies, conferences, tourism, visits, banquets, interviews and so on. These activities feature in multi-sites, long-term tasks and diverse requirements. Therefore, much experiences and lessons can be learned from these activities.The paper can be divided into four parts. The Introduction,the first part, includes the definition of interpreting and an overview of liaison interpreting, such as definition, background and development. Then it will introduces some present research achievements and orientation of some scholars.The second part describes the three liaison interpreting activities, including background, objects and characteristics.The third part is interpreting process, comprising the interpreting preparation and the process of the three activities. Interpreting preparation includes background preparation, expertise preparation, question prediction and psychological preparation. By means of case analysis, interpreting skills including memory, note-taking skills, accent,listening skills, and cross-cultural communication awareness are concluded and mistakes and faults are analyzed in the interpreting process.The fourth part concludes the ideas and experience of these interpreting activities. In this chapter, qualities for interpreters are put forward and the importance of cross-culture communication consciousness and subjectivity consciousness are emphasized.
