According to the survey, in the process of China’s aging population and social development, both the scale and speed of older females’ population are faster than old males’, and the older females’ population has become a fast-growing population. However, due to the different traditions of consciousness and physiological differences between men and women, as a result of the social division of labor, older women are in a weak position whether in economic income or social life. Thus, older women in later life should arouse widespread concern in society. However, with the gradual development of the social economy, older women’s pursuit of spiritual comfort is much more than on the needs of material and money. By searching several elderly universities and old centers, we can also find that the number of older women who participate in activities accounts for 80 percent of the total which is more than the number of men. Besides, according to the survey, most of the participants have opted music class activities which are in favor of their physical and mental health. In addition, scientific research shows that music can make us feel comfortable, reduce stress, and strive to have a positive impact on the development of physical and mental health. Involving in musical activities frequently can even prevent diseases. To participate in the elderly aged music education activities in leisure time not only exercise the body and adjust the attitude, but also improve the quality of their own life and the achievement of their self-worth. All in all, participating in music education activities is very useful to a stable society and elderly people’s physical and mental health. Based on this, along with the aging population, more and more experts and scholars have begun to focus on this area of investigation and research.In the context of an aging population, with elderly music education as the theoretical basis, investigation of this issue investigates and analysis for the current situation of elderly women involved in music education activities in Diecai District, Qixing District and Xiufeng District. The author visited several cultural centers, the elderly university, veteran center and old amateur choirs in Diecai District, Qixing District and Xiufeng District, using a literature review, questionnaires, interviewing and so on. By surveying the current situation of elderly women involved in music education activities in these three districts, this study will clear and define their motivation to participate in music activities and features of it, explore the positive effects to old women, and pose some useful suggestions to promote its development.This paper consists of four parts, namely:the first part is the introduction; the second is about the theoretical basis of the related concepts; the third part investigates and analysis for the current situation of elderly women involved in music education activities in; the fourth part gives some thoughts and suggestions about this issue. The first part includes the reasons and significance of choosing this research, and the subject-related domestic and foreign research profile and research methods used in this study; the second part is the theoretical basis of the related concepts, introducing the definition of an aging population and changes and trends of elderly female population, development and characteristics of older music education as well as the impact on the elderly; Survey of the third part mainly survey and study current situation of old women’s music activities in several cultural centers, the elderly university, veteran center and old amateur choirs in Diecai District, Qixing District and Xiufeng District, using a literature review, questionnaires, interviewing. According to the survey results, the author analyzed comprehensive statistical data and then presented them in graphical forms. The fourth part gives some thoughts and suggestions about this issue. In the last conclusion, the author of this paper summarized in a brief summary, noting that the current government and the community should support older women participate in music education and open up more music activities which suit old women’s characteristics. Moreover, I believe that the organization and management of aged music education also need to be further improved in these three districts of Guilin city.
