In the early 20th century, China experienced the transition of society and culture, including the system and content of education in school. From 1922, Ministry of Education was conducting a comprehensive reform in education. Music education was considered to be a significant point in "Aesthetic" and this situation promote the development of music education objectively. A large number of contemporary musicians devoted them into this career and made a great contribution. One of the most outstanding music educators is called Zhenghe Ke, born in Taiwan. In his career of music education, Mr Ke always focuses on music education in ordinary schools and social music education. However, fewer people notice his contribution to the music education because of some political and historical reasons.Zhenghe Ke went to Japan for two times in order to study music, western culture and so on. In 1923, he come back to China and started to teach music courses in Beijing Normal University. Due to the backward of music education in China and the negligence from the government in music education, Mr Ke decided to develop his music education career.At that time in China, as an advocate and practitioner, Zhenghe Ke combined with other educators, musicians, to launch the music activities. All of these things in music education generated a profound impact to China.This thesis, through researching the music activities during the time Mr Ke taught in Beijing, try to evaluate Zhenghe Ke objectively, fairly and hope to bring some enlightenment to today's China.
