《I Love You》 originally called《I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change》， is a small-scale-theatre musical performed by only 2 actors and 4 actresses. It is also commented as ’the most humorous love musical’ and was nominated by’the Amateur Drama Critic Awards’ as ’the Most Outstanding Musical’. It has been translated into 14 languages and toured around the world for more than 400 cities and over 5000 times.Based on the experience of performing this musical, this article explains how an actor makes up the characterization successfully by dialogues and music， and do well in this humorous love musical. Chapter one talks about basic knowledge of’Character Language’ and shows importance of it. The second chapter highlights several points of the basic practice in dialogue and music, to a musical actor. Chapter three research on the key to building a character in some detail. In the fourth chapter, we go back to the’speaking and singing’ and discuss how to put the two factors in a proper way to make fantastic chemical effect. Finally, I hope us to understand what dialogue and music are, and the importance of them in order to building a character perfectly. This is also the target of this essay.
