When the spouts of porcelain were evolved to Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, their modeling was changed subtly and tended to stabilize, which suggested the mature stage of the porcelain spouts.Through the study and arrangement, the subtle change was reflected in the angle spouts faced, the distance between spout and pot, the distance between spout mouth and root. And then, we obtained the evolution rule of spouts modeling in Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. The mouth of spouts was developed from horizontal to inclined, the distance change between spout and pot was from distinct fluctuated to relative steady and the distance between spout mouth and root was more and more big.The porcelain spouts were categorized as quasi-circular tube, polygon prism, animal head and duckbill from Yuan to Qing dynasty. The four types of spouts played different functions under different conditions, which have satisfied the human’s need of material and spirit. Although the quasi-circular spouts possessed high occurrence rate, the other three pots were not disappeared from the scene and played a special function with the division of labor was refined and the special pots reserved for especial purpose. For example, duckbill spouts were used for storing milk and watering flowers. But the pots used for milk and water were less than teapot for the reason drinking tea and wine prevailed for long time in China. This thesis focused on spouts modeling feature by inductive classification, disposing data and finding rules. The thesis may make a contribution to bring new thought in the understanding of ceramic modeling design by accordingly comprehensive study. It may provide some reference and enlightenment in the face of morphology integration, size, the match between spout and pot and daily use for modern ceramic design.
