A Translation Report On Innovations In China’s Diplomatic Theory And Practice Under New Circumstances By Yang Jiechi

Nowadays, in the background of Chinese international status grown, Chinese strength significantly improvement, it not only in terms of economic and culture, but also in the political and diplomatic. Chinese diplomatic vision, an effective media that known for global, is gradually mainstream. Therefore, it is important mission and primary content for China to introduce itself to other countries in the diplomatic translation. Diplomatic English translation quality will directly affect national interests and image. However, There are a few of existing diplomatic materials in books, newspapers and magazines, articles, network, TV and other medias with low quality, so that China’s current diplomatic translation work is far from requirements of national publicity work. Therefore, we have a study in diplomatic texts translation into English and come up with some useful translation strategies and translation methods, and let the translators master the translation theory and correct methods, which not only in good image, the spread of the Chinese status and political views, international status and soft power, but also play a decisive role in creating a favorable international environment by enhancing mutual understanding and maintaining world peace between China and other countries.In view of the current situation with incomplete domestic translation research system and the shortage of English versions, on July1 st, 2014, China Intercontinental Press have plan to publish Interpretation on New philosophy Diplomacy about the number of important articles by ministry of foreign affairs leaders at major international conference in recent. I have the honor to participate in the second part of Interpretation on New philosophy Diplomacy into English. I am responsible for the original text from Seeking Truth magazine. Translation records in Interpretation on New philosophy Diplomacy, which trying to provide a valuable translation text to foreigners known Chinese diplomacy and diplomatic intentions. The texts offer complete, accurate, rigorous diplomatic translation that speech by leaders at international meetings for foreign readers, which is not only provide translation strategies and corpus for translators, but also promote diplomatic concept with Chinese characteristics, international image of reputation and status. Thus, the report effectively changes misunderstanding and prejudice, foreign merchant could choose a right perspective on investment, in order to ensure the communication and cooperation between countries carried out smoothly, and the report obtains Chinese propaganda purposes for making China popular in the world. The translation practice project could not only provide guidance to foreign affairs translators, but also provide valuable reference for foreign affairs translation practice and teaching about foreign affairs.In the translation process, the author analyzes three articles by the former foreign minister Yang Jiechi, combining text type theory of functionalist school and text analysis theory of Christine Nord, sum up the features about diplomatic text as information text, analyzed the main extratextual and intratextual factors influenced the author. According to diplomatic English text types and text functions, the author adopted literal translation, free translation and sentence structure reorganization translation methods to solve the encountered in the translation of long sentences translation and made conclusion of translation techniques. In addition, with the diplomatic vocabulary and words with Chinese characteristics included in diplomatic text, in order to achieve "Accommodationist" effect in the process of translation, the author mainly adopts "Domestication" translation, so the target audiences could uptake by the meaning of the original message and achieve the purpose of the study. As an interpreter, the author hopes that this research can not only provide certain valuable theoretical reference and practical significance for related diplomatic English text translation practice and translation teaching in the future, but also make a better contribution to introduce and propagandize China’s new diplomatic concept.
