YE Shi(1150-1223), whose given name is Zheng Ze, was born in Yong Jia. People called him Shui Xin. His works are Shui Xin Wen Ji, Shui Xin Bie Ji, Xi Xue Ji Yan Xu Mu. Zhong Hua Book Company compiled Shui Xin Wen Ji and Shui Xin Bie Ji, and named it Ye Shi Ji in 1961. YE Shi is a philosopher, thinker, writer and political commentator. He is the renpresentative of the school of Yong Jia Shi Gong, which is the one of three main schools in Nan Song. As a writer, YE Shi wrote many poems and epitaphs, but people rarely analysed his works.Ye Shi Ji consists of 336 rhymes in 150 ancient style poems, 235 rhymes in modern style poems and 306 rhymes in epitaphs. This paper uses the way of combining rhymes, statistics and comparing. At first, we try to find out the rhymes, and then classify these rhymes and pick the special ones out. These special ones not only are important to research the characteristics in YE Shi’s poems, and also reflects the characteristics of the area of Wu Yu. Most of YE Shi’s rhymes are in accord with common language of Song dynasty, but it also has some exceptions. For example, YE Shi puts the rhymes of Jia and Ma, Jiehai and Zhiwei, Yumu, Gege and Youhou, Xiaohao and Youhou together. And so are in tail vowel of Yang Sheng and Ru Sheng rhymes. In tones, YE Shi’s rhymes are line with traditional four tones, except some special ones in ancient style poems and epitaphs, like putting Shang Sheng and Qu Sheng, Ping Sheng and Qu Sheng together.
