Modernist design movement is the most important one in the history of design, which not only led to the development of modern design in the 20th century, but also led to another Enlightenment in the field of life, education, manufacturing, etc in Europe and the world. However, the glorious of the modernist designer who is considered to be enlightening shelter the fact that they worked for Nazis. In fact, after Nazis came to power in 1933, Hitler and Nazis’attitude toward the modernist art remains unclear. Including Goebbels and several senior leaders of the Nazi who was very respected for modern art. Nazis established the anti-modernism arts policy after "decadent art" exhibition in 1937. But Nazis treated the modernist design more ambiguous. On the one hand, the modernist design and Nazism have some common points on certain principles. They had tried to resist the European social which had been dissimilation though modern technology in pre-war period. They have insisted on the "elite" status, and planed the future of "Utopia" society for the people. On the other hand, Europe generally popular with cynicism after World War I. Some modernist designers with opportunism began to seek opportunities to cooperate with the Nazi government after 1933. Thus, in fact that Nazi did not exclude the modernist design, which can be seen in architectural design, industrial design and visual communication fields. Influenced by the "myth" which formed when the modernist designers who migrated to American, historians always did not pay attention to their work in the Nazi era. And I will attempt to restore this history, and complement the history of the development of the modernist design movement in this article. Meanwhile, I hope to take the modernist design as an example, and think in the relationship between intellectuals and totalitarian political further more on this account.
