This thesis is about the comparison of design education between Bauhaus (1919-1933) and Ulm HfG (1955-1968). Data from field survey, interviews, and English materials in three Bauhaus Archives (Weimar, Dessau & Berlin) and Ulm Archive are the main sources which the research comes from. Comprising among the similar social backgrounds, totally different financial supports, continuing developing design education concepts, composition of staffs, teaching methods, fundamental courses and similar endings are analyzed and discussed in this dissertation. This study is done in best wishes of providing reference to the starting development of Chinese design education.
