Report On C-E Translation Of Excerpts From《中国医学文化博览》

With the rapid development of economy and culture, people’s living standards are improved, and they start to pay attention to health care, especially health care of traditional Chinese medicine, which begins to receive increasing worldwide attention by virtue of its marvelous effects. In order to spread the knowledge of Chinese life cultivation and to make it serve people’s health, great importance should be attached to the translation of traditional Chinese medicine.In this report, the author elaborates the translating process and the methods used for the translation of traditional Chinese medical terms, sentences and text of the source text from Cultural Expositions of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine translation belongs to science and technology translation, so the source text is a scientific and technological text, which is informative and aims to express the source information objectively and precisely. In order to solve these difficulties in the translation of sentence and text, the author chooses Nida’s functional equivalence theory as the theoretical guidance and applies some translation methods like amplification, omission, conversion of grammatical relations, and separation and integration of sentences, to ensure the accuracy and practicability of the target text.In this report, the author firstly gives an introduction of the translation task which includes the introduction and analysis of the source text, and the practical significance;secondly describes the translation procedure including the preparation and translation process; and then the author analyzes the translation methods with cases from the perspectives of terminology, sentences and text; lastly makes a summary and expresses the hope for future translation of traditional Chinese medicine.
