People are under great pressure to adapt to the rapidly changing society, resulting in increasing incidence of cancer. As the precious treasure of Chinese people,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)with the history of thousands of years, has accumulated a lot of experience in treatment of cancer, and that is why it should be inherited and enriched.Exchange with foreigners is highly required in its further development,so we are supposed to bring in the advanced research findings in TCM.However, works introduced over the past few years is far from meeting the demand. Therefore, the translator decided to translate Traditional Chinese Medicine Approaches to Cancer(excerpts)into Chinese.Hopefully Chinese practitioners and other Chinese readers will increase their knowledge about the achievements in TCM in the West and at the same time the translator could promote the academic exchange and further development of TCM.The source text is excerpted from the fourth chapter(the first four sections)of the book Traditional Chinese Medicine Approaches to Cancer written by Doctor Henry McGrath who reveals the methods and theoretical basis of TCM in cancer treatment.Under the guidance of Dynamic Equivalence Translating, the translator follows the principle of functional equivalence to translate in the hope of encouraging the exchange in TCM.This report is composed of four parts. In the first section, the translator gives a brief introduction of the source text and its practical significance. The second section is the description of translation procedure involving the preparation and translation process.Case study is in the third part, which is divided from the perspectives of words, sentences and text;In the last part, the translator makes a summary and describe the prospects for future translation in TCM.Through this translation practice of TCM texts, the author summarizes the translation strategies and methods adopted in the translation process. The author believes that in translating such TCM texts, the Dynamic Equivalence Theory should be adopted as the guidance. The equivalence of the meaning between the target text and the source text should be achieved in terms of vocabulary, syntax and text.Based on that, the customary expressions of the target language readers should also be used to improve the readability of the target text.
