Research On Hong Ling’s Oil Painting Language

Hong Ling is one of the important artists of Chinese contemporary imagist painting and has made a high achievement in the exploring and converting language of oil painting and Chinese culture spirit. His study on Chinese and Western art not only inherits the traditional mantle but also is featured with modern elements. In his works, Chinese painting skills that contain Chinese landscape spirit are integrated into the ontology language of oil painting, which make the later highly pure and dignified. He is considered as a successful artist of oil painting nationalization due to the boundless, richness, extraordinary vigorousness and far-reaching implication reflected in his works.In this paper, Hong Ling’s artistic language will be analyzed in aspects including the language formation process, the language system and the language features. At the same time, the causes and characteristics of Hong Ling’s aesthetic pursuit will also be introduced. First Part: The Introduction part describes the research background, purpose and significance of this subject, as well as presents the domestic and foreign research status. The second part of this paper is introduced by sorting out the literature. Chapter I mainly describes Hong Ling’s biography, art activities and historical background. Chapter II primarily interprets Hong Ling’s language of landscape oil painting based on several stages of the formation of his painting style and painting language. Chapter III focuses on the analysis of Hong Ling’s aesthetic pursuit in oil painting. Chapter IV reveals how Hong Ling’s painting language is distinguished from other contemporary artists. Finally, Hong Ling’s artistic achievements and his influence on the oil painting nationalization are summarized.
