Consecutive Interpretation Practice Report On Visiting Daqing Oilfield Oil Production Experimental Station

With the continuous development of economic globalization and the oil industry, Petroleum English and its translation is also becoming increasingly important. Petroleum English is the closely combination of basic English and Petroleum chemical industry expertise, and also a branch of Scientific English. It has different particularities from other professional English, and has its unique characteristics in terms of vocabulary and discourse. This practice report is based on author’s interpreting task of receiving foreign guests visiting the EOR Experimental Station in Daqing Oilfield, and explore the interpretation skills and strategies of Petroleum English.The report consists of four main parts, including task description, task process description, analysis on practice cases of oil professional interpreting, and summary of practice. In the first part, the author mainly introduces the task entrusted units, nature of the task and unit requirements. The second part, the author describes the task process, including the preparation phase before translation(related petrochemical specialized vocabulary, EOR basic knowledge and translate theoretical preparation); task stage(related materials of escort interpretation and a glossary of terms update); Emergency plan and translation process description. The third part is the core of this practice report. Author takes practice tasks involved in the content subject of the report as the foundation, from language and cultural barriers, petroleum English interpretation skills and strategies, analyzes the problems and solutions are described. The last part of the report summarizes the entire practice, the author mainly describes the specialized knowledge and related thing she gets after the practice, and elicitation for the work of the future and outlook.
