As is well-known, diet is an essential element for human to live by. With the growing influence of international exchanges, many diet-related topics have become a kind of culture which plays a bridge role in the process of communication and exchange between different countries of the world. It is particularly worth mentioning that the hit of A Bite of China not only makes people learn more about the diversity of national food culture, but also shows the world the special charm of Chinese cuisine culture. Now it has become a beautiful card of China’s foreign publicity and arouses the interest of many researchers for dish translation. As part of the unique structure of the Chinese diet, local snacks occupy an important place in the diet culture, and attract more and more attention from people at home and abroad. Based on the love to the diet culture of the author’s home town—Changzhi, Shanxi Province, she selects a book named Smelling to the Delicacy which is about the local snacks of Changzhi as the translated text, and completes this translation practice report based on it.This topic is a practice report specialized on local snacks translation. It consists of four parts. The first part gives a brief introduction to the content of the project and analyzes the text source and the significance of this project. And then it describes the pre-translation preparation and the process of post-translation proofreading, as well as their importance. In the third part, combining with the translation instances, the author systematically analyses and expounds the translation problems in this project and their solving methods, mainly including the analyses on the translation status quo of Chinese Cuisine as well as the translation of local snacks. In the fourth Chapter, this paper concludes the experience and lessons gained from this translation task, and put forwards some problems to be solved in the field of dish translation.
