The Study On Chinese Loanwords In Xiangxi Hmong

The paper focuses on studying the Chinese loanwords in Xiangxi Hmong.The goal of this paper is going to confirm Chinese loanwords in Xiangxi Hmong and their historical stratums.The significance of the study as follows: firstly, anlaysis of historical stratums is conducive to reveal their own phonetic situation in different periods when Xiangxi Hmong and Chinese contact, in turn, it can provide the basis for the study of their own phonetic history;secondly,as Xiangxi Hmong is an important part of Hmong,studying Xiangxi Hmong and Chinese cases is major significance for the integrity of Hmong; finally, the study provides a valuable reference information for the language contact theory.The paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter introduces the research status and significance of Xiangxi Hmong,theoretical background and research methods of this paper. The second chapter to the fouth chapter is the main part,referred on Chinese phonetic history and based on the Chinese middle ancient speaking, it divides Chinese loanwords into three stratums including moderntimes,middle ancient times and ancient times.In additon,according to geographical criteria approaching,the paper compares phonetic features of Xiangxi Hmong and Chinese,lists Chinese loanwords and Chinese characteristic in phonetic relations and points out three standards that distinguish modern Chinese loanwords and middle ancient loanwords.The fifth chapter conducts meaning class analysis of Chinese loadwords in the Xiangxi Hmong.Historical stratums of Chinese loanwords in the Xiangxi Hmong could be studied through the following three steps:firstly,phonetic correspondences should be defined as the foundation for the selection of loanwords and determination of historial stratums. Phonetic reference could be any related language including Southwest Mandarin words in Guiyang and constructed phonetic system including modern, middle acient and acient Chinese.Next,loanwords should be found out as many as possible on the basis of detailed materials.Last,stratums of phonetic difference and phonetic correspondences can be determined so that historical stratums can be settled.
