The Study Of Fuxi Sacrifice Ceremony Of The Mountain Guatai In Tianshui

In this thesis, the research object is Fuxi sacrifice ceremony of the Mountain Guatai in Tianshui. According to the previous researches and surveys, I also did some field works. Starting with the rite description, which is did by very fewer former people, especially the performance of the ceremony. I systematically described the ritual process of Fuxi sacrifice ceremony of the Mountain Guatai in Tianshui, deeply analysis and summarize its symbolic significance, Ceremony structure, ceremony features and cultural functions.This thesis is divided into nine parts, and they are introduction, five chapters, theories, references, appendices and etc. The first chapter is about the cultural context of Fuxi faith in Mountain Guatai. Starting with the three aspects of the natural geography environment, cultural and historical environment and folk culture of Sanyangchuan, we made the brief introductions of the cultural phenomenon of Regional geography and culture background. The second chapter is the structure of the Fuxi sacrifice ceremony of the Mountain Guatai. I made a general introduction of Mountain Guatai about Fuxi’s legends and sacrifice changes, time distributions and spatial structures, faith gods, organizers and organization running, clergies. The third chapter is the ritual performance of the Fuxi sacrifice ceremony of the Mountain Guatai in Tianshui. It is divided the ritual performance into four sections, such as preparation, idolatrous rituals, ritual ceremonies and send-off ceremony. It is also made a detailed description to live performances. The fourth chapter is the ritual interpretation of the Fuxi sacrifice ceremony of the Mountain Guatai. It is mainly from the symbolic meaning of the physical and the ritual process, the structure of the ceremony, ceremony features to analysis cultural connotation of the Fuxi sacrifice ceremony of the Mountain Guatai. Chapter five is about the functions of folk culture. From its connotation, I explored the folk cultural functions of maintaining and identity, interpretation and teaching, comfort and adjustment, economy and consumption, entertainment and catharsis.This article from the perspective of the ritual performances to deep description and analysis the folk sacrifice ceremony, and based on my own first hand field data and theoretical consulting to replenish and enrich pre-studies. Ritual is the carrier of the development of the Fuxi sacrifice ceremony of the Mountain Guatai. It shows people’s willing to adjust yin and yang, good weather, bumper harvest, live a long life, rich country and strong nation, peace and harmony according to folk sacrifice ceremony, its enhance people’s cultural identity and national cohesion.
