| The essential definition of children’s literature is "the literature created for children", which means the language style of children’s literature must be rhythmical. Therefore, the language of those classic children’s literature works, no matter written in Chinese or in other language, must be vivid and have strong sense of rhythm and rhyme. The readability of classic children’s literature works can give readers enjoyable feeling when they read them out. In the research field of Stylistics, this kind of readability is made possible by phonological features, such as the phonaesthesia, rhyme, and metrical style. However, the language of children’s literature translations tends to lack readability, or is even hard to read out for adults. In fact, the primary cause of such problem is the translator’s negligence of the phonological features of the children’s literature work, rather than the difficulty in understanding the original works. In order to interpret and thus improve E-C children’s literature translation, many theories, including Functionalism, Translation Norms, Poly-system Theory and so on, have been used to solve the problems. But few researches focus on the phonological features of the children’s literature work from Stylistics perspectives. Analyzing the source text is important for translation, and figuring out the phonological features of the original children’s literature work is of great significance in children’s literature translation process.Under the guidance of the phonological theory in stylistics, this research will explore the phonological features of original children’s literature work and discuss the translatability before proposing specific translation strategies. In total, there are six chapters. The first, second and third chapters are introduction, literature review and methodology. The forth chapter will introduce the phonological features of English children’s literature and their translation. The E-C translation of phonological features in children’s literature will be discussed in fifth chapter. The last chapter will draw a conclusion for the whole research. This research aims not only to provide feasible translation skills to solve the practical problems in E-C children’s literature translation but also give a brand new research perspective in children’s literature research. In a word, this research is of importance both theoretically and practically. |
