On Translation Strategies Of Children’s Literature

Children’s literature or juvenile literature is a kind of literary genre, which is enjoyed by children. Firstly children’s literature must meet children’s reading habits with the use of lively and clear words and be in a proper form which is suitable for children to read. In both creation and translation process of children’s literature, the most important part is that whether the text could be understood and accepted by children. Therefore, in the process of translation of children’s literature, translators should try to make their work legible and attractive.In recent years, the translation of literary works has been gradually improving, but research on the translation of children’s literature is extremely scarce. Translation of children’s literature has been marginalized, so a large number of substandard children’s books have appeared in the market, which may cause negative effects on children’s education. Children’s literature is written especially for children and will have a significant impact on them, so the translation of children’s literature should be given special attention.This thesis will discuss the features of children’s literature with some examples in the translation of Neighbours Unknown. Combined with the characteristics of children’s literary texts, the translation strategies of words and sentences will be discussed. According to the translation process, the author emphasizes the importance of translation procedures in ensuring accomplishments on schedule and good quality of texts.
