This thesis, applying the Teacher Role Adaptation Theory, presented the process of teaching role of three volunteer teachers in Kyrgyzstan on the basis of interview analysis and, in accordance with the data retrieved from the application of Nvivo software, analyzed the difficulties and causes when teachers were adapting to teaching circumstances in terms of role consciousness and behavior. This thesis focused on teacher category and teaching in the adaptation process. It found out that their subjective attitudes were related to their teaching experiences, teaching attitudes and personalities. The adaptation is a dynamic process from knowing to understanding and further to adapting the role. This study suggests that volunteer teachers develop a correct view on teacher and student, and foster a habitual practice of individual reflections and active learning. It is hoped that institutions of higher learning keep improving curricula and Hanban timely rationalizes pre-training courses and set up a platform for volunteers to exchange ideas.
