Chinese teacher volunteers are an important part of the teaching team.With the development of Confucius Institutes growing,more and more fresh graduates and present graduate students choose to join the ranks of Chinese teacher volunteers.As the backbone of international Chinese teaching,whether Chinese teacher volunteers can adapt to their roles directly affects the effect of Chinese international communication and promotion.Therefore,what role Chinese teacher volunteers in different countries should play,how they adapt to their roles,how to train students majoring in Chinese international education,and what should be paid attention to in the selection and training of Chinese teacher volunteers.All these issues are worthy of our in-depth consideration and study.This paper takes three Chinese teachers volunteers in Senegal as the research object,and takes the teacher role theory as the theoretical basis.It mainly uses qualitative research methods to explain the role adaptation process of Chinese teacher volunteers in Senegal through a case study,analyzing the difficulties encountered in the adaptation process,the influencing factors,the characteristics and the solutions to the related problems.This paper is divided into the following six parts:The introduction first introduces the origin,the main content and significance of the research,then expounds the basic theories and research results involved in this paper,and finally explains the research design and research methods.The first chapter introduces the development status of Senegalese Confucius Institute and teaching center from the aspects of faculty,curriculum arrangement and volunteer's main work arrangement.Combining the standards of international Chinese teachers,it sums up the expectation of all levels in social relations to Chinese teacher volunteers in Senegalese,and also gives a general summary of the roles that volunteers should play.Based on this,the research framework of this paper is formulated.The second chapter shows the problems and solutions of the three volunteers in their work and life,and the role adaptation process of Chinese teachers in Senegal is analyzed from three aspects: the Chinese teaching,the coping with cultural differences and the interpersonal communication.Based on the case and interview content,the third chapter explains the four stages of the role adaptation of Chinese teachers in Senegal,such as role cognition update,role conflicts encounter,role-playing,and role internalization.And through analysis,it is concluded that the adaptation process is mainly characterized by stage,difference,reality and multi-dimensionality.The fourth chapter analyzes and summarizes the influencing factors of the role adaptation of Chinese teacher volunteers in Senegal from both internal and external aspects.The fifth chapter mainly provides a solution strategy for the role adaptation of Chinese teacher volunteers in Senegal from their own perspective.In addition,this chapter also puts forward some suggestions on how to help Chinese teacher volunteers to fulfill their role adaptation from the perspective of Chinese teacher volunteer training unit and management institution.
