In this translation report, the writer chooses the chapter of 9 and 10 of Translation Today: Trends and Perspectives to translate, which is written by Gunilla Anderman and Margaret Rogers. The essay collection is about the trends of translation based on both theory and practice from various perspectives, which involves the thoughts of some west scholars on translation study. On the basis of the translation practice, the report is produced under the guidance of translation theories, presenting solutions to the problems with appropriate translation strategies. By combining and summarizing the approach to the difficulties in translation, the writer intends to develop the capability of combing practice with theories in an effort to make further improvement in translation practice. The report can be divided into 5 parts. Part I gives descriptions of the task, showing the background of the source text, the importance and purpose of the task as well as the brief of the author and the original works. Part II makes illustrations of the task, including the preparation for translation and translation details. Part III draws the theoretical framework for translation. Part IV conducts analysis of problems with translation. Part V wraps up the report with the conclusion of the translation practice.
