The institution of burying is the embodiment of the ancient social system and social life. The institution of burying with chariots and horses is an important aspect of burial system. Through the study of chariots and horses buried in a region, we can get a deep understanding for the region’s institution of burying, but also to society, science and technology, military, political and other aspects of study has important significance. As part of the Chu culture, it is an important part of the Chu culture study. On the other hand, it’s also can provide the materials to the institution of burying with chariots and horses across the country.Burying with chariots and horses in the Chu Tombs consist of setting up pits of chariots and horses and burying with chariot and horses appliances in grave. Through the analysis of found chariots and horses appliances in the Chu Tombs, using typology and other methods l analysis approaches in the thesis, and get some general rules.There is a rigid hierarchy of rules to burying the chariots and horses appliances in the Chu Tombs. Pits of chariots and horses located in the west of the tombs, pit plane is nearly square or rectangle, the carriage and horses in one pit. To chariot and horses appliances, they often on the side of the tomb with weapons.During the late Spring and Autumn Period, setting the pits of chariots and horses’ s tombs is less. After the middle of the Warring States Period, the number is increased. The same applies to burying chariot and horses appliances in graves,and the species also increased. The reason is that, in the middle of the Warring States Period, Chu state is powerful, has the ability and wealth to using of rich funerary objects include chariots and horses.In Chu Tombs, only noble tombs can set up pits of chariots and horses, but not all noble tombs setting up pits of chariots and horses.
