The Qingyang Palace kiln in Chengdu, which is named because it is adjacent to the ancient Taoist temple Qingyang Palace, is called "Shu kiln" or "Chengdu kiln" in history. It is the earliest plain kiln in Chengdu and one of the origins of the early celadon ceramics in Sichuan province. Firstly, this paper picks up the field investigation and excavation materials, makes the research of its geographic location, surrounding environment, kiln and the workshop, as well as analyzes the fractal fraction, stages and characteristics of unearthed relics. Moreover, this article studies the historical development and evolution, furnace technology, burning process and decorative techniques of the kiln. Secondly, it makes a comparative study between the Qingyang Palace and the western Sichuan kilns in the same period and explores the relationship and communication between them. Finally it focuses on the inherent relationship with rise and fall of Qingyang Palace kiln and construction development of Chengdu city, pointing out the important effects on the rise and fall of qingyang Palace kilns of the city’s transformation, economic development, population movements, cultural and technical exchanges.The article content mainly includes the following five chapters:Chapter I:Introduction. This chapter includes three aspects:one is to research the issues and research; Second, research state; Third, the research methods and ideas, problems and solutions. According to currently published archaeological materials, it reorganizes the unearthed material of Qing yang palace kiln and makes the classified research.Chapter II:Preliminary study on Chengdu Qingyang Palace kilns. This is the focus of the chapter, including seven parts:first, introduction of the geographical location and surrounding environment; Second, the excavation situation, find of the workshop area, and shape analysis of the kiln; Third, the kilns unearthed in fractions, summarizing their cultural characteristic; Fourth, discusses the production process level of the kiln; Fifth, makes comparative between the Qingyang Palace kiln with Qiong kiln, Qinglian kiln, Tianfu kiln, glass kiln, etc. describing similarities and differences, heritage, communication and influence of them; Six, Origin of Qingyang Palace kiln technology, explores its production technology, cultural factors and origins; Seven, introduces the exterior area of the kiln products.Chapter Ⅲ:The relationship between Chengdu’s development and the rise and fall of Qingyang Palace kiln. This chapter discussed the relationship between Chengdu city and the start-up of the kiln in the Qin and Han Dynasties to Six Dynasties, development in Sui Dynasty, peak and decline in Tang Dynasty. It points out that the political situation, economic development, building history, immigration, cultural factors, which have important influence on the kiln.Chapter Ⅳ: The reasons for the decline of Qingyang Palace kiln. It lists and analyzes several factors that may have significant impact, and speculates that the kiln might stop burning on the occasion of Gao Pian fortification.Chapter Ⅴ:Conclusion. Make a summary of the porcelain making history, features, technology and the relationship with the city construction.
