It was in the mid of 20th century that Modern Architecture came into its own. To know about it will contribute to the formation of right architectural thoughts which are helpful for social development. This report is based on my translation of the part concerning modernist architecture excerpted from A Global History of Architecture (Second Edition). From the perspective of the Skopos theory, put forward by Hans J. Vermeer and Katherina Reiss, and under the guidance of skopos, coherence and fidelity rule, I discuss how to apply different translation techniques in the practice of translation with focus on terms and long and difficult sentences. As for the translation of terms and sentences, I use methods of literal translation, transliteration with annotation, amplification, division, conversion and so on. In a nutshell, based on the purpose of the target language, I try to convey the exact meaning of the original text in a fluent and concise way.
