Research On The Efficiency Of Culture Industry In Jilin Province

As one of the world’s most potential sunrise industries, cultural industry will certainly develop into the pillar industry in the era of knowledge-driven economy and the new growing point of global economy. Though Jilin province has put forward the goal of being a strong cultural province during the period of the 11 th Five-Year Plan, it is still a province with weak cultural industry in China. The analysis of the efficiency of cultural industry in Jilin province will help to fasten the development of provincial cultural industry and enhance the regional comprehensive competitiveness. It will be significant to readjust the industrial structure and promote the reform in Jilin province. The Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA) method is applied to analyze various efficiency indexes of cultural industry in Jilin province and the problem links which cause the maladjustment between input and output will be found out. Furthermore, some reasonable and practical suggestions will be given to promote the overall development of cultural industry in Jilin province.This thesis focuses on the efficiency of cultural industry in Jilin province and it consists of si x Chapters. The research background and significance of cultural industry, the current resear ch situation at home and abroad and the research methodology will be explained in Chapter one. The overview on the theory of industrial efficiency, the definition of cultural industry, a nd the DEA method will be given in chapter two. In Chapter three, the current situation of in dustry in Jilin province will be analyzed from the perspectives of input and output, and the a dvantages and the existing problems will be pointed out. The efficiency of cultural industry i n Jilin province will be measured in Chapter four. Through DEA analysis, the efficiency of c ultural industry in Jilin province from 2009 to 2012 will be worked out from technical efficie ncy, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency. The malmquist factor productivity will be used to explain the efficiency fluctuation. In chapter five, factors which affect the improvem ent of cultural industrial efficiency in Jilin province will be summarized based on the analysi s results and the real situation of industrial development. The factors include: power dislocati on of the government, financing difficulties in cultural companies, the lack of professional ta lents, low level of core cultural technology, and disequilibrium of development mode. In cha pter six, suggestions will be given on efficiency improvement of cultural industry in Jilin pro vince from management efficiency, capital usage efficiency, application efficiency of scienc e and technology, human resource allocation efficiency and industrial scale efficiency.
