The object of this report on translation is about the English to Chinese translation task of the article The Income Body Weight Gradients in the Developing Economy of China, which was published on the academic journal Economics & Human Biology in 2014 by Darjusch Tafreschi from University of St. Gallen. The article is mainly about the relationship between overall economic factors and body weight during the continuous development of Chinese economy, which has become a template of informative text for current absence of specifically relevant studies in domestic academic circle. The full text of the article consists of six parts, the author selected to translate the whole txt of about fourteen thousand words, this translation task was completed by the author independently under the guidance of the tutor.The report is divided into five parts, where the author has analyzed the language style and characteristics of the original version of The Income Body Weight Gradients in the Developing Economy of China based on mainly differences between two languages of English and Chinese, thus to identify theoretical guiding ideology and basic principles of the translation task. The first part of the report is task description, which is the introduction of the project background, objectives and significance. The second part is the task process, including text analysis of the original version, the preparation prior to translation and guiding significance of the theory. The third part is the case analysis, which is to conduct the analysis according to the specific issues discovered during the translation. The fourth part is translation practice summary, which is to summarize the author’s experiences accumulated during the translation, the insufficient knowledge and translation insights.The translation practice has further improved the author’s virtue of patience during the translation and the ability of translation practice, meanwhile, the author has also clearly recognized the enormity of the translation task. In a word, the improvement of the ability of translation practice is never enough, and the author hopes to achieve more progresses in translation field in the future.
