A Report On Chinese To English Translation Of Financial Text Through Analysis Of Fund Management Company’s Background Information

The past30years has witnessed remarkable achievements in China’s economic development. With the deeper engagement of China in international financial market, many Chinese enterprises adopt the long-term strategy of globalization. Chinese-English translation of financial text is, therefore, becoming an indispensable bond and bridge for the exchange and communication in this field.This report is based on the translational practice of a fund management company’s background information, which is intended to, from the perspective of Chinese to English translation, explore the strategy of dealing with some major difficulties that are quite common in this field. The report elaborates that, by following the major principle of Functional Equivalence initiated by Eugene A-Nida and Skopos Theory, it aims to shed light upon the features of financial texts such as terminologies, the ranking system as well as skills employed to deal with long sentences, difficult sentences in the process of C-E translation. Last but certainly not the least; it is a sincere hope that this report on translational practice could offer a reference in this field.
