The character on the bamboo slips of C hu is precious information written by the ink during the Warring States Period, which sails from Shang Dynasty and Zhou Dynasty to Q in Dynasty and Han Dynasty.Starting from the beginning of the Warring States Period, a kind of phenomenon about generalized cursive script tendency is arising in the stroke of the character on the bamboo slips of Chu. But the features of cursive script tendency in this period are pursuing the brief structure rather than the joint of stroke writing. To the middle and later periods of the Warring States Period, the phenomena about cursive script tendency teem, which include “Delete” “Borrow” “Combine” “Replace” “Join”and “Abbreviate”. With the transformation ofseal characterwriting style in the Western Zhou Dynasty and C hunqiu period, thecharacter on the bamboo slips of C hu is more suitable for writing.Along with the changing ofwriting style, the character structure is also transforming, like cutting, breaking stroke unit and a large number of usage about joint. All those factors promote the development of cursive script during the Warring States Period. But the level of generalized cursive script tendency towards the character on the bamboo slips of C hu is unbalanced. Among some characters on the bamboo slips of C hu, there has appeared C ursive script structure which can be saw directly, even to find that the single structure is approaching mature modern C ursive script. In fact, these examples of Cursive script structure have a small number of proportion in the whole writing system. Adding to the cases of d ifferent ways of writing, all the above evidences account for that during the Warring States Period C ursive script structure has been appeared but still in the phase of development.Although the C ursive script of the character on the bamboo slips of Chu is different from the later ages’ narrow sense of Cursive script, numerous cursive script tendency phenomena mark the source of the ancient style of calligraphy current in the Han Dynasty even the formation and maturity of the Han Dynasty Cursive script.
