A Study On Relation Among Aggressive Behavior, Moral Disengagement And Empathy Of Criminals

The issue of crime is existing in every country. and the criminals are the main body across whole crime. These criminal are also the unstabilizing factor in every society. This article aimed at studying the status of aggressive behavior moral disengagement and empathy from the perspective of moral cognition. The Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire,the Mechanisms of Moral Disengagement and the Interpersonal Reactivity Index-C were administrated to 752 criminals. The results showed that:1.Among criminals, male showed higher tendency of aggressive behavior than female; criminals that under the age 24 showed more aggressive behavior;criminals,whose mather’s education level is primary education,showed less aggressive behavior;criminals, whose come from rural areas showed less obvious tendency of aggressive behavior, whose come from rural areas showed less obvious tendency of aggressive behavior; criminals, whose commit economic and drug trafficking crime showed less obvious tendency of aggressive behavior.2. Among criminals, male showed higher tendency of moral disengagement than female; criminals that under the age 24 showed higher tendency of moral disengagement than others;criminals,whosefather and mother’s education level are primary education showed lower tendency of moral disengagement; criminals, whose come from peri-urban areas showed more obvious tendency of moral disengagement;criminals, whose commit economic and drug trafficking crime showed less obvious tendency of moral disengagement.3. Among criminals, male showed less tendency of empathy than female;criminals, whose come from peri-urban areas showed lower tendency of empathy; criminals, whose commit drug trafficking crime showed higher obvious tendency of empathy.4.The higher tendency of aggressive behavior the individual reveals,the higher the moral disengagement level was; the higher tendency of moral disengagement the individual reveals, the lower the empathy level was; the higher tendency of perspective taking the individual reveals, the lower the physical aggression and verbal attack level was; the higher tendency of personal distress the individual reveals, the higher the aggressive behavior level was.5.Moral disengagement is the mediator variable between perspective taking and physical aggression; moral disengagement is also the mediator variable between personal distress and verbal attack.
