In recent years, amounts of violent incidents in colleges have come into picture, which has aroused widespread concern of psychological researchers. Those who hurt other people often use their past experience of being "unfairly" treated by the victims or others to explain their aggressive behavior, using moral disengagement to explain their aggressive behavior.Do people all show aggression when they encounter the same rejection experience? Of course not.Why do different individuals have different reactions after suffering the same unfair treatment----social exclusion? What factors influence the individual’s aggressive behavior? This paper will focus on the theme of "the influence of college students’ social exclusion and moral disengagement on aggressive behavior",and under the guidance of the theoretical framework of " Moral Disengagement theory" and“General Aggression model”,carry out the following 4 studies to explore the above problems:In study 1,by using the questionnaire survey, explored the relationship between moral disengagement and social exclusion.674 subjects filled out Social Exclusion Questionnaire and Moral Disengagement Questionnaire by online or offline. The results show that: There is a significant correlation between social exclusion and moral disengagement. The second study adopted 2(social exclusion \ social acceptance)×2(high moral disengagement \ low moral disengagement)inter-subject design.88 subjects took part in the experiment. This paper intends to verify and discuss the influence of social exclusion and moral disengagement on aggressive behavior through experiments. The results show that the main effect of moral disengagement, the main effect of social exclusion and the interaction between social exclusion and moral disengagement are significant.Which means compared with individuals with low moral disengagement, individuals with high moral disengagement level have stronger aggressive behavior;Compared with the acceptance group, the subjects in the exclusion group had stronger aggressive behavior. The subjects with high moral disengagement level in group acceptance had stronger aggressive behavior than those with low moral disengagement level. The third study used questionnaire and experiment to study the influence of moral disengagement and social exclusion of exploratory state on aggressive behavior in the past three years. In study 3,2(social exclusion\ social acceptance)×2(initiation of moral disengagement\ control of moral disengagement)was adopted as the experimental design among subjects.60 subjects took part in the experiment. The results show that the main effects of state moral disengagement and social exclusion are significant, and the interaction between state moral disengagement and social exclusion is significant.State moral disengagement and idiosyncratic moral disengagement show consistency in the relationship between social exclusion and aggressive behavior. In study 4,which extends the variable of social exclusion, and discusses the differences of moral disengagement level among individuals with different social exclusion experiences, and the interaction between past social exclusion experiences and laboratory social exclusion situations on individual aggressive behavior.A 2(high social exclusion experience \ low social exclusion experience)× 2(social exclusion \ social acceptance)inter-subject experimental design was adopted.88 subjects participated in the experiment. The results show that moral disengagement is positively related to aggressive behavior. There is a significant difference in moral disengagement level among individuals had different social exclusion experience, specifically, compared with the subjects who had less social exclusion experience, the moral disengagement level of individuals who had more social exclusion experience is higher. The main effect of social exclusion experience and social exclusion are significant, and the interaction is also significantly. In other words, compared with the subjects who had less social exclusion experience, individuals who had more social exclusion experience show more aggressive behavior after being excluded in the experiment.Overall, moral disengagement plays a moderating role in the relationship between social exclusion and aggression.Individuals with high levels of moral disengagement engaged in more aggressive behaviors after being rejected by others.Previous experiences of social rejection also influenced how individuals behaved after being rejected by others:individuals with more experiences of rejection were more likely to fight back through aggressive behavior after being rejected in the experimental situation. |
