It seems normal that the contemporary Chinese people show less interest on literature works than ever since 1990 s.Especially the novels with serious tone about the history of the Revolution in the twentieth century,becomes more and more difficult to attract the public’s attention.However,several kinds of spy novels have won the public’s attention,including the most popular novelist Mai Jia’s three books “Deciphered ” “Plot ” “Rumor”.As part of the Spy Subculture,Mai Jia’s novels have attracted millions of readers and spy-fans who like spy movies and TVs and have been developing into the Mai Jia Phenomenon.If we really want to know why people are so fond of the Spy Subculture,we have to understand that the factors of detective fiction have contributed much to the Spy Subculture and the aesthetic taste of the contemporary Chinese has changed much ever since 1950 s.In this dissertation I try to figure out the mystery of the operating mechanism in Mai Jia’s novels.The cipher cord experts and female spy of Mai Jia ’novels become new members of the spy images in the spy history of Chinese Revolution. During the detective process of discovering Who is the spy,the image of spy becomes attractive and charming.Their images reflect the imagination and attitude towards contemporary history.The imagination of spy is deeply impressed by the sense of Identity, which is becoming the best symbol of the relation between the past and the present since the days of After Revolution. As the reader-audience,contemporary people are all involved in the sub-culture of spy.With the sense of Spy Culture,people rewrite the imagination of the history of contemporary.
