Correlation Of Parental Rearing Pattern And Procrastination

Procrastination is a common social activity of people’s behavior, a large number of studies have shown that procrastination is a common phenomenon among college students, frequent and long delays will affect the individual’s learning, living, and some even endanger health. To further understand the nature of the reasons resulting delay, improve the delay theory, provide a theoretical basis for clinical prevention and correction of procrastination, this study discusses the relationship between parental rearing pattern, self-esteem, self-efficacy and the delay. It discusses the relationship between the wake procrastination and avoidant procrastination and three common ways about the denial, emotional warmth and overprotection. It also further analysis the mediating effect of self-esteem and self-efficacy.This study used questionnaire method to investigate 389 college students, the results showed:1. Parental rearing patterns exists the significant difference on delay, self-esteem and self-efficacy. Parents refused, overprotection and delays significantly positively correlated with self-esteem, self-efficacy there was a significant negative correlation; parental warmth and delays significantly negatively correlated with self-esteem, there was a significant positive correlation between self-efficacy.2. Regression analysis showed that there are differences relationship between and Procrastination, the parents refused and parental overprotection predicted high delay to some extent, parental warmth predict low delay to some extent.3. There are significant differences between the Parenting Rearing Pattern, self-esteem and self-efficacy. Parents refused and parental overprotection predict low self-esteem, low self-efficacy to some extent; parental warmth to some extent predict high self-esteem and a sense of high self-efficacy; overprotective forecast high self-esteem and low self-efficacy.4. Self-esteem has some mediating effect between parents refused and procrastination; has complete mediating effect between emotional warmth and procrastination.5. The self-efficacy has some mediating effect between parents refused and procrastination;has complete mediating effect between emotional warmth and procrastination.6. Self-esteem,self-efficacy does not exist mediating effect between parental overprotective and procrastination.
