With the development of the reform and opening-up policy in china, the scale of foreign cultural products trading was expanding and the structure was gradually optimizing in recent years. But there still exists the deficit of the structure of the cultural products trade, and constraints the cultural products trade competitiveness. The cultural part of the foreign trade keeps a quite small proportion, and the cultural products trade structure is not reasonable, which is needed to be improved. The development of foreign cultural trade has always been essential to the extension of cultural scope, the improvement of the quality of foreign trade, the continual expansion of the reform and opening-up policy, the transformation of economic development mode and the building of moderately prosperous society. However China, as one of the four ancient civilizations, has 5000 years of history and profound cultural heritage, the development of cultural trade was less than satisfactory. According to relevant statistics, Chinese cultural industry accounts for 2.9% of GDP in 2013, despite the fact that it has increased by 15% in 2012, we still lag behind the developed countries, which form a disproportion with china’s status as a culture power. As a special part of international cultural trade, the cultural products trade has been attracting extensive attention from the international community these years because its own specialties and the political, economic and cultural effects, which made competition become more and more fiercelyCultural products trade has been developed rapidly in Japan in recent decades. The last century, Japan put forward a policy for culture orientated national development, and embarked on a road of relying on cultural trade to seek a new status in the world economy stage. In the new century, Japanese culture trade continues to maintain prosperity. The government proposed to build a "great cultural nation" and "cool Japan", and some cultural products and services that meet people’s spiritual needs get a opportunity to grow fast. Japanese animation industry, cartoon industry and game industry are world-famous and profoundly affects this whole country’s economy. And their related products export also occupies an important position in the world.As East Asian countries, China and Japan owns plenty of similarities in region and culture. However there are great differences between them in economic strength, economic structure and development path. Therefore, this paper takes both cultural products trade as the research object, compares and analyzes their development process, management system, operational aspect, and economic performance, so that we can find out their similarity, personality and route, and further provide reference to cultural trade with Chinese characteristics.There are five chapters in this paper and the main contents are as follows:The first chapter is introduction. It mainly introduces the research background and its significance, internal and abroad research status, paper’s structure and primary content, and research thinking and approaches. Besides, it also states its innovation and shortage.The second chapter is about the definition of the related concepts of the article. Firstly, the definition of the related concepts of culture, cultural industry and cultural trade is given, and then the definition of the competitiveness index, the foreign trade structure and the economic theory used in this article, which lays a theoretical foundation for the analysis of the paper.The third chapter is to analyze the trade structure of Chinese and Japanese culture products between China and Japan. This part explains the gap between China and Japan’s of cultural products trade competitiveness from the perspective of trade structure. The contents of this chapter are from the aspects of the foreign trade commodity structures, the foreign trade structure, the main structure of foreign trade and the regional structure of foreign trade in four aspects. Finally, the comparison of the trade structure, the current import and export trade is relatively low, the structure is not reasonable, and can not meet the needs of industrial development, trade pattern and structure is not scientific, the main trade is not reasonable, and the lack of attention to the private enterprises, and the distribution of trade area is single, lack of diversification and then according to the status, analyzing the reasons.The forth chapter is a comparative analysis of cultural products trade structure impacts on trade competitiveness between China and Japan. This part firstly focus on the mechanism of cultural products trade structure impact on competitiveness and then the competitiveness of Chinese and Japanese cultural products, and selects the "personal, cultural and creative services" index as a unified standard, the use of market share index, trade competitiveness index, comparative advantage index, and so on, and then on the cultural products trade competitiveness. It finds that although China’s cultural products trade is in a favorable position, the trade structure of cultural products is very unreasonable.Chapter 5 is the full text summary and suggestion part. In combination, cultural products trade structure comparison based on, to optimize trade structure, put forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions and solutions.
