A Research Report On The Translation Of The United States Federal Food, Drug, And Cosmetic Act

Legal text is a unique literary form with a rigorous structure and strict language, which has a strong profession. This paper extracts the The United States Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act for the description, analysis and theoretical demonstration as well as practical summary, so as to study the strategies and methods of the Chinese translation of legal texts. In the 4th plenary session of 18th CPC Central Committee which was held in 2014, the General Secretary stressed that comprehensively deepening the reform, improving the governing capacity and governance level of the Party must be carried out in line with the comprehensively promotion of the rule of law, so the legal translation has a great practical significance.This paper is divided into five parts:Part I is introduction, which provides an overview of the background, meaning and study objective of this translation practical project; party Ⅱ introduces the translation project, including the project content, the requirements of the commissioned party as well as the nature of the source text; party Ⅲ provides a description of the translation process, including the pre-translation, mid-translation and post-translation; party IV analyzes the translation instances, including the lexical processing and sentence translation, exploring the strategies and methods of translating legal texts; party V summarizes the whole translation practical project, stating some considerations and views on the problems appearing in the practice.
