| This report is based on the English-Chinses translation of Regulation(EU)No 528/2012,Biocidal Products Regulation(BPR).Shenzhen Super Dry Desiccant Company entrusts the author to translate the previous two parts of this regulation,which has about 16,000 words.Biocidal Products Regulation is a legal text with the characteristics of normalization,specialty and preciseness.It contains numerous biochemical and legal terminology and has complicated syntactic structures.It is also dominated by long and complicated sentences.The translation of Biocidal Products Regulation is a translation practice under the guidance of the functional equivalence theory.Based on the linguistic features of the source text,in the process of translation,the author applies translation methods such as literal translation,amplification,division and combination to solve the key and difficult problems about biochemical and legal terminology as well as long and complicated sentences,striving to ensure a high accuracy of the version and make it in line with the linguistic characteristics of legal text.This report is based on the English-Chinese translation project of Biocidal Products Regulation and gives a comprehensive introduction to the whole process of this translation practice.In the process of translation,the author makes adequate preparations including analyzing the source text,reading some law books and parallel text and setting a small terminology database.Through in-depth analysis of language features of legal texts,the key and difficult points of this practice is discussed from the perspectives of the lexicon and syntax with examples and some translation strategies,techniques and methods of legal texts are summarized briefly.Hopefully,this translation practice could improve the author's theoretical knowledge level as well as translation skills,and,this report could provide some useful references for further translation of legal text,as well as some materials for domestic enterprises. |
