As a Nigeria citizen, graduated from Nnamdi Azikiwe University as a bachelor of French, and German,currently in Hebei Normal University,doing master in Chinese language as a major.Haven studied in China this few years, already felt the extensive and profound of Chinese culture. Also felt the cultural conflict between the two countries is also very obvious. In order to promote the communication between the two countries and the development, reduce the cultural conflict, this article will carry out research on: China and Nigeria different in communication etiquette.When you travel abroad or study abroad, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of the culture in different countries. Such as: in China, supporting the old by the arm and the young by the hand, is a traditional Chinese virtue, but old people in Nigeria don’t normally like someone to support them by the arm, they think that it is a detriment to their dignity. In China,when friends gathered to eat, during the settlement of bill they use to compete to pay for the bill,but Nigerians always pay on their own; In China, to accept other people’s praise,people use to be modest generally. They can say "you flatter me", while in Nigeria people always said: "thank you" and so on. How can we avoid awkward situations that emanate from culture differences, to be an ambassador of peace?First of all, we should have an open mind. In the face of different cultures, we should be always objective, equality, respect for cultural diversity, to cherish and protect the national and ethnic culture. Also, we should also build a cultural bridge. We should not only have respect for different cultures, but with an open mind, we should also disseminate other peoples culture and also carry forward our national culture, let the world know the rapid development of China, understand China has a long history of culture. To be an ambassador of peace.Countries and their different folk customs, involves: Greeting, food and clothing, hospitality etiquette, visits, gifts, holiday celebrations etiquette, entertainment, local conditions and customs, etc. In order to avoid conflicts of cross-cultural communication differences, we discussed how to “Greet” in the first part of the thesis and then points out the differences of the two countries. In the second part we discussed the introduction methods between China and Nigeria.In the third part, we put forward a problem that can make two people from different countries to misunderstand each other, which is “visitation”, we clearly stated this problem in the thesis. In the fourth part, we discussed gifts presentation in order to solve the misunderstanding that use to come with it. We stated clearly in the paper the norms and dons of gift giving in China and Nigeria. Because in China some of the gifts are been regarded as taboo,therefore some of the gifts cannot be sent, such as: watches and clocks, shoes, etc.- In the fifth part, mainly solved how the two countries receive visitors and visit as well. Embodies the world culture has the characteristics of the richness and diversity.Countries around the world, every ethnic group culture or custom has unique character, it is the uniqueness of this cultural custom, only constitutes the diversity and richness of the world culture and civilization. Different nationalities and countries due to differences in customs and cultural background, created different attitudes and methods of solving a problem. We need to understand and respect the habits and customs of different countries, moreover,it can attach importance to communication.
