The Experimental Study On Yi Du Dialect Tone In Yi Chang In Hu Bei Province

Yidu County, belonged to Yichang in Hubei province, is located in the intersection of the Qing River and the Yangtse River. Yidu dialect is a kind of Yichang dialect, which belong to southwest mandarin area. Comparatively speaking, there are more researches on vocabulary and grammer of Yi Du dialect than on tones. This thesis studies and analyses the tones with acoustical experiments and means of sociolinguistics.This thesis consists of four chapters.Chapter one is a introduction, which introduces the present situation, significance and purpose of this thesis. In addition, it explains the method and process of acoustical experiments in detailed.Chapter two is focus on the pitch and duration of monotonous syllable of Yidu dialect. Firstly, the data of pitch and duration of monotonous syllable can be acquired by using Praat. Secondly, the T formula and duration formula are used to gain the normalization data of pitch and duration. Finally, the pitch, tone area, T data and relative duration can be compared and analysed under the condition of different age and sex. The conclusion is that age and sex have a few effects on pitch and duration of monotonous syllable of Yidu dialect, the monotonous syllable duration relation is Qusheng﹥Yangping﹥Shangsheng﹥Yinping.Chapter three is focus on the pitch and duration of bi-syllable of Yidu dialect. Firstly, the data of pitch and duration of bi-syllable syllable can be acquired by using Praat. Secondly, the T formula and duration formula are used to gain the normalization data of pitch and duration. Finally, the pitch, tone area, T data and relative duration can be compared and analysed under the condition of different age and sex. According to the results of experiments, there are twenty-five kinds of types of bi-syllable of Yidu dialect on pitch aspect. And on duration aspect, the relation of the first syllable is Yinping﹥Qusheng﹥Yangping﹥Shangsheng, of the second syllable is Qusheng﹥Yinping﹥Shangsheng﹥Yangping.The age factor, on pitch, the age differences result in a few differences on pitches, the most deviation data is 1 degree. Identically, the sex factor has a few effecs on the pitches, only the data of T has some deviations. On duration, the age factor makes T2+X and T4+X be a little different from the other two types, however, there is only 0.6 deviation on relative duration.The sex factor, it makes T2+X, which the male duration is longer than female duration, be different form others. It nevertheless can not affect the overall trend of duration of bi-syllable of Yidu dialect.Chapter four is the whole conclusion of this thesis.
