Pingshan County lies in the west of the Taihang Mountains of Hebei Province, it belongsto Shijiazhuang. Pingshan dialect is in the Zhanghu part of Jin dialect. Up to now, there is somuch information about monotonous syllable of Pingshan dialect, but there are not so muchinformation about the bi-syllable Pingshan dialect. With the expectation of furthering study inthis field on the basis of the previous achievements, this thesis studies the tones of Pingshandialect by means of acoustic experiments. This thesis is mainly composed of three chapters.Chapter one summarizes the present traditional and experimental research of Chinesetone and the phonetic system of Pingshan dialect, then states the research methods andprocedures of the experiments. Finally, the author selects the method of LZ as that of F0normalization and utilizes the method of T-Values to realize the value5degrees.Chapter two studies the F0and length of monotonous syllable of Pingshan dialect. In thisprocess, the acoustic data such as F0and duration are firstly collected; and the normalizationof these data is then conducted; finally utilize the method of T-Values to realize the value5degrees. It is found that the experimental conclusion on pitch values of mono-syllable tone isconsistent with the four traditional points, but it has inconformity with two traditional points. The relationships between each mono-syllable tone are: Rusheng>Pingsheng>Shangsheng>Qusheng, the length of monotonous syllable is impregnable of the confirmation of Pingshandialect.Chapter three studies the bi-syllable tone from pitch and duration. In this process, theacoustic data such as F0and duration are firstly collected; and the normalization of these datais then conducted; finally utilize the method of T-Values to realize the value5degrees. It isdiscovered that there exist some differences between the bi-syllable modified toneexperimental conclusion of Pingshan dialect and traditional conclusion. The author sums upthe modified tone regular patterns of Pingshan dialect according to the experimentalconclusions and analyzes them with” Abrading of bend degrees” theory. The mainly pathwayof abrading of bend degrees of Pingshan dialect is changing falling arch to jack arch or rising arch, then decrease the linking infection-points, in order to realize the saving energy ofpronunciation organs. The length of bi-syllable tone is: the women’s absolute length is longerthan the men’s; the elderly absolute length is the longest, then is the young, the middle-aged isthe shortest; the length of four tone category respectively the first word and the latter word is:Pingsheng>Shangsheng>Rusheng>Qusheng;“Qusheng+Qusheng” is the shortest in the ninetone combination, because its length between tones and the latter one are shorter, Qusheng isshorter no matter where it is in the front or after.
