Analysis On The Development Feature, Forming Reason And Structure Of Death Anxiety

The death is the problem that anyone couldn’t avoid. Although facing death directly let you feel afflictive like facing sun, with the perception the limitation of life,could you walk out the confusion of real life and dialysis the value and significance of life. The most of studies currently are based on the view of terror management theory,the scope of group are limited, at the same time, the development patterns of depression is similar to death anxiety, which disturb the study of death anxiety, and quantitative studies do not disclose fully meaningful comparisons between persons and cultures. On this basis, this studies explore the features and influences of death anxiety of different age groups, combining the quantitative with qualitative research techniques, with the investigation of different groups are established in localization cultures. And it would provide more wide range views and theoretical foundation for subsequent studies.The present study contains two parts.Study 1, the Death Anxiety Scale and Trait Depression Scale are applied to 758 different age persons(12-89), exploring the characteristics of death anxiety of different age groups and difference about demography. The present study draws conclusions as follows:The death anxiety is related to the all dimension of trait depression positively.The results show that significance difference is found among age in death anxiety.The death anxiety present fall ”U” variation tendency with increasing of age. And the initial adults get the highest points of death anxiety.The results demonstrate that significance difference is found between gender in death anxiety, and females have a significantly higher than males’. At the same time, the difference is also found among education in death anxiety. The persons who have degree of culture are junior get significant lower points than person who have degree of senior and bachelor. In addition, the physical condition present significance difference in death anxiety. The person who used to be eaten up with diseases or get accidental injury has a lower score than who haven’t it. The interaction between age and education is significant, but the interaction between age and gender or healthy isn’t significant.The education moderates the relationship between trait depression and death anxiety.Study 2, 15 participants are selected and interviewed in the formal study,representing groups in different era. Following the standard procedure of ground theory,interview data was then transformed to electronic text and analyzed with Nvivo8.0.And exploring the forming reason and structural model of death anxiety. In the results 172 open codes and 8 selected codes were generated. Based on these codes, one axis code was formed and was named “forming reason of death anxiety and its structure”. The Forming reason of death anxiety is consisted of seven factors: vital attitude,self-actualization, self-awareness, instinct, healthy condition, sense of responsibility,meaning of life. The trait of death anxiety is consisted of six parts: lose sense of presence, dead pain, and things after death, interpersonal, accidental death, and unknown of death.
