Vocal teaching is a complex course, which teachers dominate. With outstanding singing ability, systematic theory and scientific teaching methods of vocal music, not only can the mentors show the right sound, they also can explain the puzzle met in the vocal teaching. What’s more, mentors can make suitable plans for students as well as find what obstructs them from making progress according to their studying status. Thus, using specific methods, they could teach students in accordance of their aptitude.As a vocal professor, an expert on vocal teaching, Jingru Liang is one of the founders of professional music education in Hunan Province. Having graduated from Music Academy in Central-South China, Mr.Liang devoted himself to subject construction and vocal teaching, making great contributions to vocal education in Hunan Province. His teaching ideas and methods of music still have guiding significance for vocal education of Hunan Province.In this article, some methods such as documentary consultation, interview, case research and analysis method are adopted. First of all, we analyzed and sorted the works of Mr.Liang. Moreover, we had interviews with Mr.&Mrs. Liang as well as his students including Shili, Qiaoling Zhan, Lu’an Yuan, getting immediate data and teaching example. Last but not least, we deeply research his ideas and methods of teaching, especially the feature of his vocal teaching.The article can be divided into three parts. In the first part, Mr.Liang’s vocal path is shown, including his experience of learning, working and teaching. In the second part, the main content of Mr.Liang’s vocal teaching is summarized, which can be divided into two aspects. One is education theory and the other is teaching methods. Mr.Liang sticks to the principle of Student-Centered, kindheartedness and teaching without social distinctions. Having training focusing on phonation, breath, resonance and language is his main teaching methods. The last part of the article extracts and analyzes the main feature of Mr.Liang’s vocal teaching. During the period of studying his thoughts, teaching methods and interview record, five main features are extracted. The first one is seizing the stage of vocal teaching. Second, with the integration of Chinese and western, the vocal teaching should be mainly based on Chinese. Third, aiming to train versatile talents is the final goal of vocal teaching. Fourth, the principle of teaching students in accordance of their aptitude should be followed. Fifth, teaching with introspection while introspecting with teaching should be sticked to.
