Bel Canto means“beautiful singing”in Italian, and it has been developing formore than 300 years. With the development of science and the deepening of researchtheories, the teaching of vocal music has been gradually perfect. This thesis exploresthe teaching philosophy and teaching approaches of Professor Wang Zhen, andsummarizes his teaching principle, teaching methods and training methods of teachingbel canto. Under the principle of teaching students in accordance with their aptitudeand teaching them step by step, professor Wang adopts metaphor, aloud reading,demonstration, etc. to explain some important problems that should be paid attentionto in singing, such as the problem of high position, breath, the problem of the unity ofalt, alto and bass, the problems of vocal practice and the problem of how to coordinatewith piano accompaniment. He also holds that vocal music is personalized singing butit also has some universal characteristic. The author considers that it is of greatsignificance for vocal music learners to recognize and understand the questionsmentioned above, for their excellent auxiliary function to learn vocal music. Theauthor hopes to provide theoretical framework for further studies on professor Wang’steaching on vocal music, making small contribution to improving the teaching theoryof vocal music.
