On The Shaping Method Of Characters’ Personality In Dramas

The drama of Scarecrow mainly tells us a story with love-hate struggles between the two brothers of big Luo and small Feng. With Yinan as the bridge of communication, the complicated relationship between the three people is presented, with highlighted personalities of different characters. Some extremely incisive social problems are reflected through description of the tragic fate resulting from the oppressive management of big Luo to small Feng.This paper is focused on the research of characters’ personality, based on the creative process of Scarecrow, with the combination of correlation film theories. In addition, a detailed analysis is conducted in the aspects of text creation, filming, and post-editing. Therefore, to create a vivid and lifelike figure in a film, there is a need to conduct a deep research on how to shape characters’ personality in script writing, shooting practice, and post-editing. The following two principles are mainly used for expressing characters’ personality. Firstly, characters’ behavior is a key factor in shaping their personality. Secondly, characters’ relationship plays a vital role in shaping their personality. In the filming process, producer directors explain how to use the above factors in a drama from apparel modeling, performance, lighting, props, and scenes, to highlight the characters’ relationship and main contradictions.In post-editing, producer directors elaborate the shaping process and presenting ways of characters’ personality from editing order, music audio, and post color-correcting. As a result, the three aspects of script creating, mid-filming, and post-editing are combined to shape characters’personality in a drama.
