Study On The Training Of English Cross-cultural Communicative Competence In Higher Vocational College

Culture is the base of language, and language is one of the carriers of culture. The ability of cross-cultural communication is the ability by which a person or group exchange effective information with another who has different cultural background. How to make the students fully master the language points and the cultural knowledge of target language which is required in the teaching outline, and at the same time to improve the ability to express Chinese culture in English to conduct effective cross-cultural communication has become an important topic to study in higher vocational college English teaching. Vocational colleges should strengthen cross-culture teaching and merge it with English teaching.We should inspire the students to master and use English language flexibly. Thinking highly of cultural education is the demands of times. We should cultivate the students’ strong cultural consciousness, Attaching importance to language and cultural differences and its influence on language is the best way to realize the cultivation of cross-cultural communicative competence in English teaching.This paper mainly discusses English education and teaching in higher vocational colleges which is based on the theory of cultural linguistics, learning from research results and practical experience of foreign language experts and scholars at home and abroad, and assimilating advanced teaching ideas and methods. We put forward the cultivation strategy of cross-cultural communication and analyze the current situation of cross-cultural teaching, cross-cultural communication barriers, and factors of influencing the cultural learning. We conclude from the research that to cultivate students’ intercultural competence in higher vocational college English teaching fits in with the needs of the times development and the social demand, and is in accordance with China’s national conditions; that to implement cross-cultural English teaching in higher vocational colleges provides strong support for us to cultivate talents of high quality.
