With the development of living standards and the continuous development of Psychology, researchers make a wild range of research about the characteristics and factors of subjective well-being. Studies have found that personality is a stable factor in predictding subjective well-being. And life events also have important impact on college students’subjective well-being. The independent college students face greater pressure and social competition. The scholars should pay more attention to their psychological problems. The aims of this study are to test the relationship between personality characteristics, life events and subjective well-being of independent college student. The study will enrich the theoretical contents of subjective well-being, and the results will help to improve the level of subjective well-being of independent college student.A total of 500 independent college students were involved in this study. Participants were assessed with General Well-being Schedule, Eysenck Personality Questionnaire and Adolescent Self-Rating Life Event Check List. The data were statistically analyzed by the Descriptive Statistics, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson Correlation, Multivariate Hierarchical Regression.The main research conclusions are as follows:1. Independent college students’ subjective well-being is above general average level, the independent college students can experience higher positive emotions.2. There are significant grade differences on subjective well-being. The score of freshman was the highest. There is no significant gender differences in subjective well-being scores, but on the controlling of the emotions and behavior and depression or happy dimensions exist significant gender differences. Urban students and rural students’ subjective well-being was not significant different.3. Independent college students subjective well-being level and export-oriented a significant positive correlation, and psychoticism and neuroticism has significant negative correlation. The spirit of quality, extraversion and neuroticism can significantly predict subjective well-being level.4. The score of Life events and subjective well-being has significant negative correlation. The results of hierarchical regression analysis indicated that the punishment, health adaptation and other dimensions can significantly predict subjective well-being level.5. Neuroticism is an intervening variable between life events and subjective well-being.
